All Saints Day Liturgy on Tuesday
We will celebrate All Saints' day with a Liturgy at 1PM on Tuesday, November 1.
Winter Dress Code Starts November 1
November 1 is the start of the winter dress code season. All students must wear their oxford shirts, and boys must wear the uniform ties.

Juniors and Seniors must dress up on Tuesday, November 1 for Ring Day. For girls, this means dress pants and appropriate length shirts and/or sweaters. For boys, this means dress pants, dress shirts (sweaters optional) and ties.

Top-Notch Technology Talent Showcased at Vincentian Academy
Vincentian Academy is blessed to have some of the most talented students in the country when it comes to technology and creative skills. Periodically, we will share with the world what we at Vincentian Academy see on a daily basis at our world-class school. Recently, Mr. John Booher asked his freshman history class to produce a project describing the "7 Wonders of the Ancient World." Some of the entries were remarkable and we will post them here with our friends and family.

It's Halloween Time
All of the students are encouraged to participate in our Halloween extravaganza. There are many ways you can participate for a small fee. All monies collected are donated to an agency that assists those in need. We are gearing up for our annual fun on Halloween at our Academy. For $1 you can come to the afternoon movie, for $2 you can wear a costume, for $5 you can dress down for the day, and juniors and seniors can leave at noon for a $2 donation. The VPA will award prizes for the best costumes in each grade. Fees will be collected in STAT this week.

Lady Royals Score Huge Playoff Triumph !
The Vincentian Academy girls soccer team won their WPIAL playoff game on Saturday vs. Charleroi 3-0. Katelyn Latuska scored 2 goals. Meg Sangimino scored a goal off a corner kick from Rachel McNulty. Freshman sensation Brenna Wise had her second straight shutout in goal. The Lady Royals play their next playoff game at Hampton on Wednesday October 26 at 8PM. Be there !

The Vincentian Academy boys soccer team received the #7 seed in the WPIAL playoffs. The boys will open play on Monday against Riverside at 6PM at Neshannock HS.
The Vincentian Academy girls soccer team received the #5 seed in the WPIAL playoffs. The girls open post-season play on Saturday against Charleroi at 1PM at Belle Vernon HS.
Good luck to all and let's all get out to the games to support our mighty Royals !

The Vincentian Academy girls soccer team beat Keystone Oaks yesterday 6-0. Meg Sangimino had 2 goals. Candy Coppola, Bridget Melvin, Rachel McNulty and Shannon Masterson also scored. Freshman Brianna Wise had a shut-out in goal. Way to go Lady Royals !
Attention Freshman and Sophomores
Freshman and Sophomores must be at St. Vincent Hall tomorrow morning no later than 7:45AM for IOWA testing. Tomorrow is a school spirit dress-down day. All students need to bring a bag lunch.
Juniors and Seniors Graduation Alert
Due to a scheduling conflict, there will not be a ring practice on Monday, October 24 during STAT. The seniors will meet with the Jostens rep during STAT to discuss graduation ordering of accessories, caps and gowns, etc. All seniors must attend this meeting.
Join the Ski Club
Whether you are an expert skier or snowboarder or just a beginner who wants to take lessons, join the ski club. We need more members this year so that we can go on many trips and make this a memorable winter. The first meeting will be on Wednesday, October 26th in room 117. If you can't make it, sign up in room 117 or talk to Mike or Joel Toro.

CAMPUS MINISTRY CUPCAKES
October is Respect Life Month. Since January 22,1973, over 50,000,000 babies have had their voices silenced through abortion in our nation. To bring attention to this sad reality, Campus Ministry is providing cupcakes to our student body on Thursday, October 20th. The cupcakes are symbols representing the millions of children who never had a first birthday. Free will donations will be accepted. These donations will be given to one of the agencies in our area that services unwed or at risk pregnant women and their babies. We also ask for prayers for all children at risk of being aborted. Thank you from Campus Ministry.

PSAT
Students taking the PSAT on Saturday October 15 need to be at St. Vincent Hall by 7:44 a.m. . Students are permitted to use a four-function, scientific, or graphing calculator. Students should bring a pencil. The test will start at 8 a.m. .
Next weeks schedules for Monday through Thursday
For the week beginning October 17, we will have regular schedules on Monday and Thursday. On Tuesday we will have an assembly during STAT. On Wednesday, we will have liturgy.
Friday's schedule
For Friday October 21, there will be no school for the juniors and seniors. The freshman and sophomores will be taking their IOWA tests all day. They will need to bring their own lunches because there will be no cafeteria service on Friday.
Chorus and Orchestra
Students are encouraged to join chorus and orchestra. Students who are interested need to sign the list in the office as soon as possible.
Cheerleading
Any girls interested in cheerleading are invited to a meeting next Thursday in the cafeteria with the new cheerleading coaches. If you plan on being a cheerleader, please be at this meeting right after school.
Cross Country Greatness
Congratulations to the Royals cross country teams for their performance at the Greensburg Central Catholic Invitational on Thursday. The boys team finished tied for first place, but officially finished in second due to a tie-breaker. The team was led by Alex Archer, who finished first in the race, followed closely behind by Ryan Archer, who finished in second place by one point. Anthony Smaldino finished 4th for the Royals. Dan Robinson finished 3rd in the JV race.
The girls finished a close race in third place, just 4 points out of second. The team was led by Erin Serosi's 4th place finish. Not far behind was Kristyna Finikiotis. Leah Stauber finished 9th in a large field.
Congratulations to the Royals and Lady Royals for fabulous results.

Senior Bridget Melvin had her fourth shut-out in goal. Your Lady Royals are 10-2-1 and in the hunt for the Conference title. Go Lady Royals!

Our Vincentian girls soccer team showed great character Monday night in a come-from-behind tie at Bishop Canevin. The Lady Royals were down 3-1, but scored the game-tying goal with 3 minutes left to forge the 4-4 tie.

The Yearbook school pictures will be taken on Wednesday October 12. Everyone should have received their envelopes at the school. There are extras in the office. Please dress appropriately.

Senior Joel Toro has been selected as a 2011-2012 scholar in the National Hispanic Recognition Program sponsored by the College Board. Congratulations Joel!
Cross Country Domination
Congratulations to our boys and girls cross country teams for defeating OLSh and Freedom on Monday October 10. Alex and Ryan Archer tied for first place. Kristyna Finikiotis led the girls with a second place finish. Leah Stauber and Matt Montanari ran personal bests. Great job Vincentian Academy runners!

Pennsylvania Junior Academy of Science Project:
The deadline for student abstracts and registration is one month away. Please start formulating ideas as soon as possible. Students who are interested should see Mr. Adams. Freshman are especially invited to participate.

Zonia is a semifinalist for the 2012 National Achievement Scholarship program. The finalists will be announced in January. Congratulations and good luck Zonia.
